Countdown to Blastoff...

Well it is T-5 days before Kellie, her dad Don and I take off on our bikes (yes, Kellie has her own) for our trek to Sturgis South Dakota. We will be leaving at 7 AM Sunday after Kellie and I say goodbye to to our dear friend JJ.

The purpose of this blog is to keep those of you interested up to date with pictures and stories.
Can't promise we'll get to it everyday but Danielle will be checking so of course we will try.

I'm Don, Kellie's Dad, and I want to share with those who may follow our journey that the excitement of this trip is mostly due to a great daughter. I've been riding motorcycle for 40 plus years and now have the wonderful opportunity to be with Kellie and Mark on a trip that I'm sure, will present wonderful experiences, challenges and weather events that only long distance riding offers. I trust the skills and durability of both Mark and Kellie and am proud to be a part of this team. Kellie and I will be outfitted with Chatterbox Communications which allows Bike to Bike communications.
Long distance riding has a common thread of good and challenging. Finding yourself lost is not the end of the world but when the weather finds you the experience can change dramatically. It is to be expected that we'll will find ourselves in, sometimes, horrific and frightening weather. On one of my trips from Florida to Conn, on the Blue Ridge Parkway a small but powerful storm that that inclouded hail, fallen tree limbs on the road, can include amongst any other unkown perils ahead. Why do we do this? It's a passion of challange, venture and exploration. There is solitude in motorcycling, a peacefullness that I relish.
